The Drilling Assistant assists the Driller on drilling projects and operations which include but are not limited to monitoring well installation, soil boring advancement, monitoring well abandonment, drilling equipment maintenance, loading/unloading/hauling drilling equipment and materials, and performs general labor duties. The Drilling Assistant works with the Driller and is responsible for ensuring all materials and equipment are in place for the successful completion of drilling projects. This position is labor intensive and will require the ability to meet the daily physical demands for lifting, bending, standing for long periods of time, and working outside daily.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Driller with Environmental and geotechnical projects at job sites.
- Load, unload, maintain, and transport drilling equipment, materials, and tools.
- Support monitoring well installation, soil boring, and well abandonment activities
- perform physical outdoor work while maintaining a safe, organized and efficient job site.

AEC, LLC is currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual to join our Louisville, Kentucky office as a Staff Geologist/Environmental Scientist. The ideal candidate will possess at least 3 years of relevant experience in managing leaking underground storage tank sites under the jurisdiction of the Kentucky Energy and Environmental Cabinet Division of Waste Management Underground Storage Tank Branch and familiarity with the Underground Storage Tank Branch UST Corrective Action Manual. Experience in soil and groundwater investigation, underground storage tank closures, and Phase I ESAs is also preferred.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform field work including subcontractor management
- Logging soil borings
- Oversee monitoring well installations, soil, groundwater, and vapor sample collection
- Field work documentation
- Direct subsurface investigation projects
- Data interpretation and report writing
